I'm running window xp and trying to make a copy of the intricate drive with Norton Ghost. The destination drive unformated and is contained by an external usb case but window doesn't see it the drive. How can I get window to see the external drive?
Windows doesn't see my drive?
Hardy, that is not correct. Ghost can copy to USB devices, however you own to specify to add the USB drivers contained by order to do it.
From the nouns of it - this isn't a Ghost issue, more so than a WIndows issue. The poster says that window can't see the drive. And if Windows can't see the drive then Ghost for sure won't know how to see the drive.
You may need to check within your control panel (admin tools, computer management) to see if the drive is even showing up.
If it is showing up but not getting a drive letter - in attendance is a little issue beside Windows assigning drive letters that you should be aware of. Example...if you already hold devices installed that take up drive correspondence past F...next Windows may not be able to assign a drive message (not that it doesn't see the drive).
Just assign the USB Drive a letter while contained by the control panel (like S or something) and you shouldn't have a problem.
Then - once Windows see the drive if Ghost still can't see it - then it is a USB drive issue. BUt you enjoy to get WIndows to see the drive first.
(Oh, and rebooting, surrounded by this case, is moot. If it doesn't see the drive via Plug-n-play, next rebooting will do nothing).
Rebooting is always a honest option... Also, try unplugging the device a few times.
Norton Ghost can't locate USB driver.
Move the disk from USB cage to PC enclosure and connect near ATA cable to PC board in lay down for Norton Ghost to identify. Then you can do copy
