You've get a leaky capacitor somewhere in the audio cuff. If you start at the speaker and work backwards, you can check out the caps and see if they're starting to run bad. Solder surrounded by a new one and for smaller quantity than a buck the problem goes away. But if you don't know what you're doing....sorry. Try and find someone beside some basic electronics skills to lend a hand you out. Otherwise you just gotta replace the intact audio card, and since it's a compaq that probably means replacing the integral motherboard too.
Um, I don't know. Perhaps your speakers are just...failing or something? Maybe you should in recent times get unknown speakers; you HAVE had them for ten years, so...
Maybe this is happeneing because they hold blown out? maybe you should replace them if you enjoy has them for a couple of years.
